Improv Salon Farce is Fast

Improv Salon Farce is Fast
November 8th 1-3pm

With Nick Ford
Farce is fast, chaotic, and gloriously difficult to control. People appear at exactly the wrong moment, misunderstandings multiply, and characters scramble to keep everything from falling apart.
In this two-hour workshop, we’ll explore how a simple improvised scene can build into farce. We’ll look at how strong character wants, entrances and exits, physicality, and escalating complications can create momentum and turn an ordinary situation into comic chaos.
At the heart of farce are characters who desperately want to maintain control while everything around them makes that increasingly impossible. The more seriously they take their problems, the more fun we can have making those problems worse.
Through exercises and scene work, we’ll play with the building blocks of the form and finish by trying to put them together.
Come ready to move, make bold choices, and embrace the chaos.
