One Day Storytelling Workshop with Corey Rosen April 11th 12-2pm

Stories are about more than “what happens.” Practice improvised storytelling techniques to add color, detail, texture, and emotion to your stories. Turn an old story into something fresh and unique, or discover a new story in this specialty workshop.
In this one-day two-hour storytelling clinic, you’ll get your story up on its feet using character, emotion, description, pacing and scenes to take your work to the next level. You’ll get feedback from storytelling expert and Moth Host Corey Rosen on how to expand and revise your story so it captivates your audience. By the end of the class, you’ll be well on the way to a masterpiece that can withstand the scrutiny of the most discerning critics.
Objectives:
tell loose natural off-the-cuff stories
generate stories rapidly for upcoming "Moth" or other storytelling show themes.
You’ll do fun, improvised storytelling drills that will help you exploit exciting opportunities in a tale.
Through fun in class exercises you’ll learn how to say “Yes” to your story possibilities, and build a game or structure into your story organically.
By the end of the class, you’ll have learned some spontaneous storytelling tools and started on a fantastic story that you could tell in one of the world’s many storytelling shows!

About Corey Rosen:
Corey Rosen is the author of "A Story for Everything: Mastering Diverse Storytelling for Any Occasion," a comprehensive guide to storytelling for professional, educational, and personal success. He hosts The Moth StorySlams and GrandSlams in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour. Rosen is an on-air personality for Alice Radio’s “The Sarah and Vinnie Show,” the #1-rated morning show in the San Francisco area and performs/teaches with BATS Improv. When not writing or performing, Corey works as a visual effects artist and executive producer. He is credited in movies including “Mission: Impossible,” several “Star Wars” films, and “Disney’s A Christmas Carol.” He has taught at NYU and Academy of Art University, written for Comedy Central, Jim Henson Productions, and Lucasfilm.
