Make Great Characters! with Jon Bander

In this class you'll learn the necessary skills to start writing and performing character pieces on your own! We'll learn theory, then use in-class improv and writing exercises to get you started on pieces for staging, filming or just throwing on Instagram the next day. Students will get notes in a supportive and positive environment, and will also practice vital writers' room skills – giving the best notes, taking notes from peers and how to pitch ideas to get others excited.  Perfect for beginners wanting to try a new skill, veterans who want deadlines/feedback, and anyone in between. You'll leave this class with new tools, at least one brand-new character in development and a whole lot of confidence to keep writing!Max 10 ppl.

ABOUT ME:Jon Bander is a character writing teacher and member of the Characters Welcome house team at the UCB Theatre in NYC. He performed in the Just For Laughs character showcase in Montreal, as well as with The Second City on the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship. Beyond that, he's a 20-year improv, comedy writing and standup veteran who has taught/performed at most improv theaters in NYC and many others nationally/internationally.
